Makram Bebawy 1948-2002

First Anniversary of his departure is going to be at Archangel Michael and Saint Bishoy Church on Sunday 25th of May 2003

  • Born in Cairo, on 20th October, 1948
  • Served as a deacon in the parish of Helwan, Cairo, from the age of eight.
  • Completed his studies in Mechanical Engineering at Ein Shams University, Cairo
  • Married his beloved wife Madline in 1974.
  • Arrived to Australia on October 1985, with his two sons, George and Tony, to unite with his elder sister Madeline Saleh, and her family.
  • First serving as a deacon at St Antonious and St Paula Church, Guilford.
  • From 1987 held the position of head of deacons at Archangel Michael and St. Bishoy Church, Mount Druitt, where he served under the guidance of the late Very Reverend Father Mina Nematalla.
  • For many years serving with endless dedication and enthusiasm, teaching a multitude of deacons of all ages the hymns, praises, duties and responsibilities of deaconship.
  • He deeply loved his family and his service of God. With his humility and spirituality, he was a role model and mentor for all.
  • On the 25th of May, 2002, he departed to the heavens, to chant with the angels.
